Tiivistelmä
The topic of this thesis was to produce an effective orientation guide for the reception at the Holiday Inn Helsinki Exhibition & Congress Centre hotel. The outcome was the orientation guide, for new employees and trainees at the hotel. The thesis includes information on workplace orientation and the process of making an orientation guide.
The aim of this thesis was to find ways to improve the orientation process at the hotel and to make the process more effective in a busy environment, with many trainees starting each year.
The research material was collected by conducting interviews with hotel employees, who had the most experience in training new employees. The data was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The writer’s own observations and the results of the interview showed that this research was useful and served a specific need.
