The fundamental right to the highest attainable standard of health, including physical, mental and social well-being has been recognized in many global, regional and national declarations and charters, Immigrant women being part of the vulnerable group, are socially excluded, and are vulnerable to health problems, due to language barriers, cul-tural conflicts, limited education, interpersonal isolation and lack of support system.
The aim of this study is to explore the experiences of the women who participated in Fit4life health promotion program and the influence of the program on these immigrant health and wellbeing.
Qualitative research method was used for this study. Eleven (11) immigrant women participating in the Fit4life health promotion program were interviewed on their experi-ences in the program, and how the program has influence their health and well-being. Thematic data analysis was used to analyze data from the interviews
Wealth of data provided by the participants on their experience in the Fit4life health promotion program indicated that there was a significant positive influence on the partic-ipants’ health and lifestyle behavior. They were able to adopt healthy lifestyle in terms of being physically active and proper choices of food and cooking techniques. The immi-grant mothers appreciated the social and psychological support which helped them get relief from stress.
