Me and Mycity is a learning environment for sixth grade students, in which students are supervised during the day to perform tasks that develop their knowledge of our society. Students activity in Me and Mycity is based on a simulation of everyday life within business, using touchpads. The training of supervisors had fallen behind the level of the children's simulation, so something needed to be done with the supervisor training.
The aim of this thesis is to develop the supervisor training at Me and Mycity and make education more interactive and simulator-based. The work consists of a study regarding which problems the supervisors have discovered during the day. Which were not included in the previous training. This study is the starting point of the development work.
The training consists of a simulation, which kids will perform during their Me and Mycity visit. The developed supervisor training is now used in Me and Mycity in Southwest Finland.
The thesis deals with the theory of learning by doing and John Dewey's educational view.
The thesis end product is used in Me and Mycity in Southwest Finland from school year 2016-2017 onwards.
