Denna kvalitativa litteraturstudie handlar om gruppverksamheters inverkan på psykiskt välbefinnande bland unga vuxna med ätstörningar. Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka effekterna av gruppverksamhet samt lyfta fram det sociala stödets betydelse i processen. Arbetet skrivs inom ramen för projektet PAD. Arbetets bakgrund och tidigare forskning tar upp gruppverksamhet, mental ohälsa och ätstörningar och den teoretiska referensramen består av empowerment, delaktighet i grupp och det sociala stödets betydelse för personer med ätstörningar. Vi har avgränsat litteraturstudien till att handla främst om unga vuxna, ätstörningar, gruppverksamhet och det sociala stödet. Våra frågeställningar handlar om hur man genom gruppverksamhet kan stöda den mentala hälsan för unga vuxna med ätstörningar och vilka faktorer som möjliggör ett positivt resultat av verksamheten. I vårt arbete bearbetade vi 14 vetenskapliga artiklar som vi sedan kategoriserade och presenterade i arbetets resultat. I resultatet kan vi konstatera att forskningsfrågorna blev besvarade och att gruppverksamheter har en positiv inverkan på välbefinnande bland personer med ätstörningar. Resultatet förklarar även att ätstörningar är sjukdomar som påverkar individen psykiskt, emotionellt och socialt. Resultatet av litteraturstudien visar också att gruppklimatet och den professionellas roll är av stor betydelse i grupprocessen. Som professionell kan gruppverksamhet vara ett verktyg i arbetet att stöda olika klientgrupper med olika former av problematik. This qualitative literature study is about the influence of group activities on the mental wellbeing among young adults with eating disorders. The aim of this study is to examine
the effects of group activities and to emphasize the importance of social support in the process. This study is written within the project PAD. In the background and previous research we explain group activities, mental illness and eating disorders and the theoretical framework incudes empowerment, participation in groups and the importance of social support among people with eating disorders. We have limited this qualitative literature study to mainly be about young adults, eating disorders, group activities and social support. Our research questions are about how group activities may support the mental health among young adults with eating disorders and which factors enable a positive outcome of the activity. In our study we processed 14 papers, which we categorized and presented in the result of the study. Based on our result we can state that the research questions were answered and that group activities have a positive impact on the mental wellbeing among people with eating disorders. The result also explains that eating disorders are diseases that affect the individual psychologically, emotionally and socially. The result of this literature study also shows that group climate and the role of the professional plays a big part in the group process. As a professional group activities can be a tool in the aim to support different client groups dealing with different kinds of problems.
