Tiivistelmä
Istuminen on lisääntynyt yhteiskunnassa ja suurin osa valveilla olosta vietetään istuen. Vaikka liikkuisi suositusten mukaisesti, voi ihminen silti istua liikaa. Ihminen voi istua päivässä kahdeksan tuntia, kunhan istumista tauottaa. Istumisen haitat näkyvät laajasti kehossa.
Opinnäytetyömme aiheena oli istumisen vähentäminen taukoja tehostamalla. Opinnäytetyönämme toteutimme posterin Kajaanin Bittium Oyj:n käyttöön, jossa henkilöt työskentelevät pääasiassa istuen. Posterin tarkoituksena on lisätä motivaatiota ja tietoisuutta istumisen tauottamisesta sekä antaa keinoja taukojen tehostamiseen istumatyöläisille. Posterin tavoitteena on myös lisätä tietoisuutta työpaikalla jo olemassa olevista apuvälineistä, joiden avulla voidaan parantaa ergonomiaa.
Posteri tuotettiin viisivaiheisen tuotteistamisprosessin mukaisesti. Aluksi tehtiin alkukartoituskysely koko Kajaanin Bittium Oyj:n henkilöstölle, jonka vastausten perusteella lähdettiin suunnittelemaan posterin sisältöä. Saadut vastaukset analysoitiin teemoittelun avulla. Kysyttäessä mikä motivoi liikkumaan, paljasti vastaukset neljä teemaa, jotka toistuivat useimmiten. Nämä olivat kivut, koetut positiiviset vaikutukset, ravitsemuksen tarve ja työympäristön ympäristötekijät. Vastaajista suurin osa istuu pitkiä aikoja kerrallaan ja istumisen tauottaminen unohtuu helposti.
Tuote vastaa alkukartoituksessa esille tulleisiin tarpeisiin. Posterissa on huomioitu istumisen tauottamisen suositus. Se toimii muistukkeena sekä antaa keinoja työpäivän aikaiseen istumisen tauottamiseen. A sedentary lifestyle has become more common in the society, and most of the waking hours are spent sitting down. Even when one exercises according to the recommendations it is still possible to sit too much. We can sit for eight hours a day if sitting is interrupted with breaks. The disadvantages of a sedentary lifestyle can be extensively seen in the body.
The topic of this thesis was decreasing sedentary work by optimizing breaks, and it was commissioned by Bittium Kajaani PLC where the personnel mostly do sedentary work. The goal was to create a poster to motivate, increase awareness of interrupting sedentary work with breaks and provide means how to optimize breaks. The objective of the poster is also to increase awareness of assistive devices already available at the workplace that can be used to improve work ergonomics.
The poster was produced in accordance with the 5-step productization process. It was started by making an initial survey among the personnel of Bittium Kajaani PLC. The content of the poster was then designed based on the survey results. The answers were analysed thematically. Answers to the question “What motivates you to exercise?” revealed four frequently mentioned themes that were: pain, perceived positive effects, nutritional needs, and environmental factors on the work environment. Most of the respondents sit for long periods of time in one go and interrupting the work is easily forgotten.
The product responds to the needs stated in the initial mapping. The poster takes into consideration the recommendation of interrupting sedentary work with breaks. It acts as a reminder and provides means how to interrupt sedentary work during the workday.
