The aim of this study was to investigate the role of line managers in the technology industry, with a particular focus on their technical and people management skills. As demographic trends and forecasts indicate, workforce diversity is becoming a reality, with the home office culture growing and allowing for more diversified, complex, and competitive markets and companies. Therefore, effective diversity management practices are essential for organizations to achieve competitive advantage and positive employee work engagement.
The research methodology involved a bibliographic search of relevant scientific articles, books, and company documents, followed by qualitative research to analyze the importance of personnel man-agement skills in project management and their influence within the organization. The study also ex-plored the correlation between technical knowledge and personnel management experience among line managers at the headquarters of a telecommunication company in Oulu, Finland. The study gath-ered perspectives from line managers and respondents at the headquarters, with a focus on training and development programs for line managers in the communications and technology industry. The research findings highlight the importance of balancing technical knowledge and people management skills for effective team management and productivity. The study recommends that organizations in-vest in personnel management training for line managers to ensure they are equipped with the neces-sary skills to manage diverse teams in a rapidly changing business environment.
