This bachelor's thesis was written for the company Wärtsilä. The company manufactures engines for marine ships and power plants. The task for this thesis was assigned by the Digital Product Development department and the purpose of it was to analyse the current process in which data is being validated and to look for eventual opportunities for optimization.
The theoretical part of the thesis consists of various digital tools used in the process, relevant theories about data collection as well as data validation and a part generally describing the company’s background and different four-stroke engine types that the company offers.
The result of the thesis are a number of suggestions for optimization for the data validation process to both promote the speed of the validation process as well as the accuracy of it.
