Opetusvideo esitettiin HOE02-kurssilla 14 hoitoalan opiskelijalle arvioitavaksi. Jatkokehitysideaksi ehdotettiin aihetta elvytetyn jatkohoidosta. The aim of this thesis was to produce an instructional video for the use of the students of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences. The instructional video deals with resuscitation caused by cardiac problems from nurse’s point of view in a hospital setting. This thesis aims to support and strengthen the resuscitation skills of nursing students by allowing them to use an instructional video. Diaconia University of Applied Sciences was the partner and the video was primarily produced for the HOE02 Clinical Expertise and Simulation course to be used as teaching material.
The thesis was carried out as a practice-based thesis which includes a thesis report and an instructional video. The report discusses the nurse's competence requirements, the legislation and recommendations concerning resuscitation, the theory of resuscitation, diagnostics and treatment methods, the role of video as a support for learning, the theory of of conducting a practice-based thesis, the thesis process and reflection of the work process. The video was shot in August 2020 at the Kalasatama campus of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences. The output of the thesis project was a six-minute-long video focusing on describing the resuscitation protocol and visually demonstrating the resuscitation situation in a hospital setting.
The instructional video was presented in the HOE02 course to 14 nursing students for evaluation. Feedback was collected through a voluntary semi-structured questionnaire. Based on the feedback received, improvements were made to the video before it was released for educational use. Participants felt that the appearance and content of the instructional video were clear and the instructional video was useful in supporting resuscitation teaching. The conclusion is that the thesis achieved its aim. As an idea for further development, the topic of further treatment of the resuscitated patients was suggested.
