The growth of technology and information, especially in recent years has led to an emerging phenomenon in the field of marketing, which is referred to as digital marketing. In this era, major changes have taken place in the business environment and in the marketing strategies. In order to take advantage of digital marketing in any type of business, it is necessary to create a suitable platform along with presenting new marketing strategies.
The purpose of this thesis project was to design and implement a digital signage platform with a web-based content management system to digitalize the advertainment's contents and enhance the customer experience in the retail environment. The platform has been commissioned and developed for the Finnish company called Zico Oy, which operates in the food and beverage industry. The project objective was to develop a web-based stand-alone digital signage platform that can enhance the way of promoting product information (digital menu) and seasonal campaigns. The system had to be remotely accessible and user-friendly. The platform had to be compatible with Tizen and Android Tv operating systems and support multiple screens with independent content. The project has been developed using PHP, JavaScript, and HTML web programming language and designed based on the WordPress online platform. The project was successfully implemented, and all project objectives were met.
