Tiivistelmä
Through my photo art and poetry, I explore the subject of violence in relationships from different perspectives; the victimś and the survivorś. My practical work is a handmade art book containing both photographs and poetry in an A5 size accordion shaped that can be unfolded in two directions. The format invites the viewer into an intimate reading experience and, through the book's four-page layout, allows for creative interaction. The intimacy the work invites was an important aspect given the subject matter I am exploring. Also, the handmade uniqueness reinforces the analogue working method on 4x5 inch film I use. The methodology of a performative strategy is an important element in my photographic art.
My own artistic work, the processes involved throughout the studies and the reflections I have made through them shapes the building blocks of my MA thesis.
Methods I have used to be mentioned, is the SPEX method by photoartist Cristina Núñez as a complementary method to support the development of my artistic practice.
Is the subject and the emotions it evokes so difficult that words are not enough? Because if language isn't enough, if you can't talk about difficult things, how do you communicate?
